somona 06-15-2009 04:57 PM

It's really a VERY good camera...we stay here with Nikon ( because of the lenses ) but Canon is a great brand :) ...Congrats !

here is an exemple with a D2X

we go to talk photography while drinking some mojitos soon !!! :)

Nice picture. Nikon and Canon leapfrog each other in upgrades. My opinion is get the glass, replace the cameras when you need to. The lenses way out last the cameras and is where the real money needs to be spent.

somona 06-15-2009 05:13 PM

Yes sure ....( this is Somona's hubby who's talking )
I don't make only shootings for my wife, also making macro, landscape, urban, animals etc....for different local newspapers here....
I got many bodies, and usually only use 2 of them for my common work, so a D1h and ( rarely ) a D1x ( because of the body is quite exactly like my old F5 )...the lenses are for sure the difference between a good or a bad pic...
There sre some you can easily carry everytime ( 17-55 mm, 70-300 mm, ...) but some specificaly for portraits ( 50 mm ) ....I use those bodies because all my old lenses have compatibilities with them , and I HATE the new DX format and motoring lenses....
The most important is to know excatly how to use your camera, and what are the advantages you can get with some or some lenses :)

js69 06-17-2009 02:37 AM

I use Canon L series....a 24 to 70 f2.8 and a 70 to 200 IS f4. Pretty much covers all the focal lengths I need for glamour and such. With the MD52, the focal lengths are now the real focal lengths with no crop factor which is a real joy at 24mm.

somona 06-17-2009 12:54 PM

yes ...I usually use very light lenses for studio like your 24-70 f/2.8
Here is an exemple with a 17-70 mm Sigma f/2.8 ....There is no need to crop, here, with the D300 I got the quite same resull as a D3 at 800 ISO

at 48 mm

at 31 mm

using a tripod....

js69 06-18-2009 01:06 AM

Nice lens and very nice pictures.

somona 06-18-2009 01:30 AM

Thank You so much Js....for my hubby ....
I have to check now what he could write on the forums !!!....Well, the fact is that was a trial for a friend of us ( Rina )...and that was really impressive ...
Well I am sure she would be surprised to see her pic on an adult forum !!!

Bman 06-21-2009 06:08 AM

I am invested in Nikon.
Thats a great Camera though!
I just upgraded to a D700 from a D300.
Cameras are just tools like a hammer.

Is this stage lighting?

somona 06-23-2009 01:12 AM

Yes Js....the fact is I wanted another effect for this shooting, with smokes, shadows etc ....none works except stage lightings placed under the model, and over the bottle ! I usually use small lightings for Somona, or non direct lightings .....after this, a real light tone mapping ( on HDR process ), and a little work on CS4 :)
I don't really love the second ones, ...surely because I really love black & White style and Low Keys in general times ....I also wanted to show to my lovely wife we can make a different style, and stay sexy ....;)

You must try this ...my wife said me we must meet this summer ???

Nicky :)

cots 06-23-2009 02:40 PM

Hey Bman

Great pics here and at your site. I have just signed up for your affiliate programme but need some galleries etc to do it properly for you. How do I get hold of them? Check out www.glamourimages.net to see what we do!

I have all of a sudden become busy this summer so won't be travelling east. Too bad, but we should hook up someday. Gotta enjoy this great Vancouver weather as long as it lasts...lol

somona 06-23-2009 04:54 PM

Hi Genroxbro :)

There are many tools you can use for free which display infos in your pics ...
for exemple, Porta , even if you don't use the gallery by itself, create for you copyright on pics, create thumbnails ( small, medium and large ) in seperate files, and keep the exif on the pics :)

Good luck !

Somona xxxx
