I use a Sony Z7U....its a couple of years old, but it still does the job...and I will hold on to it until there is a jump in technology. I think a lot of people are shooting with dslr's now. Here is a pretty good site to have a look at

great cam but thats an HDV camera not HD...

I think that for those with a limited budget DSLR's are the way to go.
