Default Let's Talk About Google

JS and others have said that their traffic from Google has dropped significantly to the point where their businesses have really suffered.

I am no SEO expert but for some reason the two recent Google changes seem to have really bumped up my search engine traffic. I have no idea if it's good or bad but the facts are that Glam Images gets 5750-6500 visitors a day via Google and Ult Fet 2,000 to 2,500. Our pay sites get bugger all really.

I try and read about it, and have a nephew who has taught me a lot. However, like a lot of things discussed here, it's very time consuming to put into practice what he has taught me.

Maybe we could all share our knowledge to joint benefit?

5000+ Google traffic per day to your Glam Images site is really great. My biggest site was getting around 15k/day google and when the first Google Penguin went into effect I lost about 70% of it.

I had other sites getting about 10K/day google, and after Penguin, (overnight) lost ALL. The only searches I was getting was for my exact domain/site name.

I admit I've done nothing differently, only always updating my sites with content and trades, etc.

Luckily last week out of the blue, Google did another change and a few of those sites gained back quite a bit of the traffic.

We definitely have to change with the times to stay competitive in this business, with the content display (tgps to tubes) or more unique and quality sites, to stay on top of what SEO tactics need to be used.

Wow! The interesting thing at my end is the "search" keywords. None of them are the ones I have carefully developed. It mainly the site name or similar or other sites that I feature at mine. If you take "free stocking pics" as a prime example then Glam Images is Page 1. But according to analytics I get no traffic from the search phrase. Any ideas? How do you find out what surfers use to search google etc?

Thanks JS. Shane we don't have more contributors to this thread as SEO success seems to be high on most people's agendas!

Google has never shown me much keyword love. Thumb TGPs aren't exactly a favorable format for SEO to begin with and SERPs for my most relevant key phrases are filled with fetish wear retail clothing sites and stories. It simply makes obtaining that ranking too costly.

For the past two years the majority of my searches come from long tailed keywords. I see the main 2-3 word keyword phrase positions come and go, and rotate, and rotate me in as well from time to time.
