For my part , we still work with the same material ...Nikon D1 & D1x for Somona Nylon and Fatal Curve , and D2x and D2h for Only...oh...the name has changed ..UOLT ...I saw many results for all the sites ....the choice of the D1 is because it's only 2.47 MP professionnal camera but very " Glamour style " taking RAW files ...D1x for more resolution ( in RAW files I can get a 10 MP resolution using Capture NX ).....D2H and D1H for shutter speed and all of them are resistant to penetration by water drops ( VERY important fact for the Wet & Messy shootings, and we surely need this summer in lake shootings and waterfalls ...)...
So we must stay with Nikon, because of the lenses ....I would love to buy a D3X but I need cash ,....here it's over 8000 $ In Canon series I would choice an EOS1-Ds Mark III.... Did heard about the last Leica S....37.5 MP ?? I got a french friend who sent me a pic taken with this ...incredible For the camcord ...I have seen your link with interest because I need some fresh material in this ! Lots of kisses xxxx Somona xxx Last edited by somona : 05-05-2009 at 12:45 PM. |

I stick with Canon because I am heavily invested in their glass. My last Canon was a 1d mark11. Those are great journalist cameras, but a little overkill and heavy for what we do. I like the Nikons, but once you have the lenses, you usually stay with the system and I am also a big fan of canon l series lenses. It should be fun to try the movie function. I am also looking forward to recording on the sony camera to compact flash, though I will prolly still do a tape copy for the bank vault. Its a pretty robust medium for storage.

yes sure Julia....about the lenses, it's quite the same things for me...Canon and Nikons are the two big brands in cameras,....
About video recording, I will get back to you with PassionUK advices, as she recently tried HD vid on her website.....the prob is always the way that the consumer will be able to see it ... |

yes I agree, Sony is a real good choice...but it's quite more difficult for me to choose a camcorder than a photocam....I do, as hobby, photos , so that's why I got many preferences for brands, lenses and more, ....( and surprise, I didn't shoot any nude body !! )...only plants, landscapes and animals ...
exemple : But we are quite far away from the main topic !! |

As I see, everyone is sticked to DPreview !!!
Well for the advantages of RAW files shootings, you can work and correct all the settings without changing the quality of the photo ( Gamma, exposition, white balance etc....)....and then save this in Tiff or Jpeg format Last edited by somona : 05-06-2009 at 06:57 PM. |

I think so !.......well you can also find some reviews of cameras in :
http://www.steves-digicams.com , the very good http://www.kenrockwell.com , and of course http://www.imaging-resource.com ... and it's really important to know all about your camera, and a place where you can compare different brands and models .... |

The shutter will last a little longer, but it could get iffy. A lot of the shutters were based on film camera designs, which meant they were not used as often. People would think before they pulled the trigger because it cost money in film and processing. Now, they fire at will and some of the earlier camera shutters will wear out. The good news is the price of decent cameras is dropping.

The 20D is a really good camera.......you know change the shutter ( even for an "old" cam like D1 ) cost around 250 $ here ....so after the shutter is ok...the cam is like new
