To Have A Network Or Not Have A Network?

We are thinking of combining forces with another webmaster and creating a network of similar sites. The general principle is "Join One - Join All". I see a lot more of these networks with a similar option and it seems the way to go.

I can see pros - mainly it makes the membership offer more compelling/competitive - and cons - you lose potential cross sales. Of course there are more Pros and Cons than this but I have just highlighted the main one of each.

Personally I think it's a compelling argument to go down the network route but seek opinions here.

I know several of you have multiple sites but do not network them. Why is that?

It would be great to have a good discussion on this topic!

hmmmmm. I will have to have a think about that. My immediate reaction is that getting involved with a partner creates more headaches than its worth. However, I spose, like a marriage, sometimes you get lucky and the sum of two parts is greater than the whole. I will certainly watch with great interest and look forward to hearing comments from others, hopefully from those who have done this. As always, you have my best wishes if you give it a go.

Hi JS

Good reply as always.

The guy we are thinking of building the network with is a long standing pal on the web. We already do some work for him shooting for his sites. We decided to do a brand new site together and the whole thing grew out of that.

The finer details of what/who will be in the network are still being discussed, as are other brand new sites that we can put into it immediately. We see it as a chance to really grow based on the old adage "two heads are better than one". Also we both believe that to make more revenue in these difficult days, you need more sites.

I know you run a number of sites so have you thought about a network and a "join one/join all" offer? If you decided against it, would you mind sharing your reasons why?

i do offer this option and i can only recommend it.
it will give you a big boost in sales !!!
do it ! you wont regret it, and it is pretty easy to setup.
if you have several paysites and want to have a "join one, and get access to all sites" options, and if you run on ccbill, they will do all the work for you, however the paysites have to be on 1 server.

if you want to "join forces" with another persons paysite, its probably not recommendable at all. you have the hustle on sharing the sales, the discussion on how much content each person contributes.
the problem with the payment processor ...and so on and so on...
in my opinion its simply better to strictly seperate everything.

We currently have a join one/join all option at a higher price and it works very well.

I always was supposing, that "bigger is better", and I still suppose this !

I was looking for a partner since autumn 2009, but it did , unfortunate,
not function, or not in a way, that I would have liked.

I live in bavaria, near to You...

Bad Luck :
I saw Your offer the last few months to run Your site, but due to a very heavy violation of my left eye I couldn`t work anything the last months....:(

Now I am back here again.
