Default Advice needed about trade scripts.

So... for my first question...!

I have been attempting, for a few weeks now, to find a good trade script. Simple, you may say, but not so... unfortunately

Something that would normally take me a couple of hours has turned into a MAJOR headache, hence this thread.

Basically, the major problem is that it must run on PHP4.3 and MySQL3. What?! I hear you cry, and I know exactly what you're thinking, however due to the sites that are already on the server and the complexity of them, it would be more costly and more of a headache to upgrade the PHP & MySQL at the moment than is justified by adding one teensy script... so I need to find another solution.

Basically, I need it to have a free option... at least to start with, so that I can give it a good test and see if I like it/can use it/it does what I want before we buy.

I need it to accept banners.... and that's basically it!

I have just seen www.xclicks.net, but it seems to centre around thumb TGPs rather than just having banners.
Fast Traffic trader looks good, but it says easy install, but has a really complicated instructions page! I also can't see the server requirements... http://www.fttcj.com
Crystal Trader needs MySQL4
TradePulse made parts of my pages disappear indiscriminately for some unknown reason, so I've deleted that one!

So... anyone else have any links/clues?

Any info much appreciated.

Have you heard of www.vanillatgp.com ? I use them on a lot of my sites, it's a thumb script and trade script combination, also with advertising options, you can add banners, advertising campaigns etc

I use on about 10 of my sites right now, it's a good script but the support is getting really really bad recently

Also have you heard of Liquid Media?

Yep... That was one of this first ones I tried... can't quite remeber what the problem turned out to be and why I had to give up on it now though, as it was a few months back before I started looking in earnest.

I'm just looking at Fast Trader at the moment and I must have had it mixed up with another one, as it's not the complicated one, however it's not installing... I'm getting problems with it trying to write tables to the database.... it does say it should work with my version of MySQL though

Your prob seems to be the script doesn't accept your Php database...
take a look at this : http://www.ibm.com/developerworks/li...ake/index.html
and here http://mysqldump.azundris.com/archiv...-problems.html

Anyway, was just having a surf for new trades, as you do, and I came across http://www.progress-tm.com. Just installed it with no hiccups and it *looks* like it will do just the job... plus the *free* licence skim is only 0.8% and it's only 99$ for the no skim version if it works out.

Worth taking a look at if anyone else is looking

You know you can also have traffic by social networks, as I do for my photography company...facebook, Myspace, twitter, plurk, you can link all them to have a maximum of coverage ...
I saw many models & TGP on Facebook and twitter, and I know Geoff 's got a twitter account ..

I think EVERYONE knows that Geoff has a Twitter account... I don't think he's ever off it! lol

I have one too

Anyway... looks like Progress TM won't work, as it lists trades by domain, so you cannot stick 2 trades in from toplists hosted in the same domain, for example,

Southern Charms or Ladys X-tops.... where you have different sites on the same root domain.
