![]() OK, lets try to get some useful business discussion going
![]() How do you all use social media to promote your sites? I will be honest in saying we use them a little, but get nothing from them - so what is the trick to it? I keep people saying that Twitter is brilliant and they make a million sales a day from it, but I just don't get it. Anyone want to enlighten me? Cheers Paul.

![]() Posting every day or several times a day with images would probably help.
Also having a female in the profiles and have her tweet stuff so the fans can respond to her tweets ![]() |

![]() Rule #1 with any social media effort: There has to be content posted that is compelling enough that people will follow, retweet or share voluntarily.
In my experience it's a far better tool for staying in touch with an existing fan base than it is a source for new traffic. That said, posting special offers or other promos once in awhile will often lead to a short term surge in joins. Non-models have a far more difficult task building a following. It comes down to time spent vs reward.

![]() I use Tumblr more although I do link Tumblr post to Twitter. I use it more for my directory sites than model sites (I would hope that they do that themselves lol!)
My Analytics say that posts = traffic and that the traffic is high quality (low bounce rate/high number of pages/time on site) but, of course, what I don't know is click through/sign up rates. I don't do enough posting really which is my own fault. What I do find is that if someone finds the blog and does some reposting my new followers go up really quickly! Does anyone know of any good posting apps that streamline things? |

![]() Hi Paul, I started to use Facebook and Twitter to promote my sites about 6 months ago. I have created a Facebook page for each models and used the category "entertainer'. You have to use a different email address, user name, password etc for each one because Facebook recognises you if you don't.
This is an example: https://www.facebook.com/pages/Louis...87732444704781 I post a new pic every week and the word soon spreads. Likewise on Twitter I have an account for each website and post regular pics. example: @nylonsnylons That one is quite new and I have about 900 followers. It is difficult to say what level of business it all brings in but it helps to keep business going when normal website sign ups are down. I hope that helps. Give it a try. It can't do any harm. |

![]() HI Jay - pages are way better than accounts on FB. There is no limit on "likes" for a page, unlike accounts, which do have a limit. Also you don't need to login/logout for each page. There is a pulldown menu in the toolbar and from it you can select who you are posting as (i.e you or the page). You can also do much more to promote pages and there is a simple analytics/stats reporting system too.
Twitter is good but needs constant, and I mean constant, tweeting to grow a decent following. I have found tweeting periodically is pretty much a waste of time. The most effective method for Twitter is for the model to get involved and chat with her followers. The interaction leads to many more sign ups. I don't have actual stats to hand but when Astrid was active on Twitter we were getting 2-3 sign ups a week from 2,000 followers. The real Twitter stars have tens (even hundreds) of thousands of followers but that takes effort - and the desire to "talk dirty". Pic posting gets some traffic to the sites but nowhere near as much as "chat". Tumblr is excellent. You can also link Tumblr and Twitter so you only have to post once. Yesterday I had a Tumblr "burst" and got 121 new followers in a day. I just wish I had the time to do it more. Tumblr is also a boost to your SEO and Google rankings. |

![]() not 100% sure, but today I read the thread on other board about facebook and seems pages with porn/erotic content can be banned anytime.

![]() With Facebook you have to stick 100% to their rules to minimise the risk of closure. Depending on your settings you also have to watch what "members" post like a hawk. Finally you have to be wary of "competitors" and rogue members. We are pretty sure a "competitor" had two of Astrid's groups closed down so we gave up. And "members" can be very, very, demanding and telling them to f******f can often lead to them getting your page/group closed.
Tumblr is far more robust! |
